Clinical Application of Infrared Thermography


Abstract
Thermography is the only objective method to visualize the condition of muscles in musculoskeletal disease by digitalized color images. It is used for quantitative evaluation of pain. The advantages of themcgraphy are as follow: 1) non-invasive and painless, 2) safe, because it dose not use radiation, 3) improving understand ability by showing the colored images to patients. Radiologic study reveals anatomic abnormalities, but thermography reveals physiologic and functional abnormalities. Themography has improved along with the development of computer technology. Nowadays thermography is used for all kind of musculoskeletal abnormalities, not just for sports injuries, peripheral neuropathy, vascular disease and so on. Thermography is pmposed to diagnose and evaluate certain kind of cancer like breast cancer. The following article will present the past, present, and future of thermography mostly it will focus onto clinical application.
